U. S. Civil War between 1861 and 1865.

Benjamin Preston BASKIN is my 2nd Great Grandfather and my Qualifying Ancestor for the Sons of Union
Veterans of the Civil War
. He was born on 3 Jul 1835 in Addison, New York and died in Midland County,
Michigan on 4 Sep 1884. He married Esther Malinda RUTHERFORD (my 2nd Great Grandmother) in Lapeer
County, Michigan on 12 Jul 1857.
He served as a Private in Company E, 83rd Pennsylvania Infantry during the American Civil War.
